Tourism Information for Lubimets
The first settlements in Lubimetz date back to the year 6000 BC. During the Thracian times, this region went through a material and cultural upsurge that could be compared to the remarkable Mediterranean culture. At this period, the area was settled by the Thracian tribe Odryssae, who created a remarkable state system and culture that allowed for the preservation of their ethnicity. The Thracian religious center discovered near the village of Malko Gradishte dates from this period and offers a complex of rock recesses, tombs and sanctuaries.
In the middle of the 19th century, the Church of St. Anastasi was built near the village of Malko Gradishte, and in 1862 a monastery was established in the church.
Part of the Ivailovgrad dam is situated on the territory of Lubimetz. The area around the reservoir is beautiful and favorable for aquatic sports.
